Practical answers before you order
Firewood delivery and product questions
These answers use the confirmed information available now. Where a specification or policy is still being finalised, we say so and confirm it directly with your enquiry.
Are all bulk logs ash?
Yes. All bulk firewood supplied by Spalding Firewood Ltd is English ash.
How are bulk logs supplied?
Full and half loads are supplied loose and tipped at an agreed safe location. They are not supplied as a pre-built stack.
Are the logs kiln dried?
No. The logs are barn or air dried rather than kiln dried.
What does barn or air dried mean for these logs?
The timber is dried under cover with air circulation. It does not promise a fixed drying time or an identical reading for every piece.
What moisture level are the logs?
Ask for current moisture information for the product you are considering. A typical percentage will be published only when a representative sampling and meter-check process supports it.
How should moisture be checked?
A meaningful reading is taken from the freshly split face of a representative log using a suitable moisture meter. An outer-surface reading may not represent the centre.
What does Ready to Burn mean?
In England, wood fuel sold in volumes under 2m³ must be certified as Ready to Burn. The scheme confirms moisture content of 20% or less. Spalding Firewood's certificate details and covered fuels must be verified before the business claims scheme status or displays the logo.
Is the ash FSC certified or from an FSC-certified source?
The owner has described the timber as FSC sourced or FSC certified, but those phrases have different meanings. The website will use only wording supported by supply-chain evidence and will not display the FSC logo until the evidence and trademark use have been checked.
How much is in a full load?
The current description is approximately 1m³. The final wording must explain whether that is loose volume, stacked crate capacity or another measure.
How much is in a half load?
The current description is approximately 0.5m³. The same measurement-basis check applies.
How much is in a bag?
The larger bag is currently described as approximately 0.65m³. The filled-measurement method and handling arrangement still need approval.
What is a heavy net?
It is an individual retail-style net containing ash logs. Exact dimensions, volume, weight and log count have not yet been published.
Is a heavy net the same quantity as the large bag?
No such comparison is published. They are different formats, and the heavy-net specification is awaiting confirmation.
Are product dimensions and volumes exact?
No. Published volumes are explicitly approximate and subject to the approved measurement description. Natural logs also vary in shape.
Is the kindling hardwood or softwood?
It is softwood kindling.
Is the kindling hand cut?
Yes. It is cut by hand rather than machine cut.
How large is the kindling pack?
The pack or net specification is awaiting confirmation. The team will describe the current pack when you enquire.
Can I add kindling to an ash-log enquiry?
Yes. Include kindling in your message or form request. The team will confirm the pack, price and availability.
Do you deliver seven days a week?
Yes, the current service is seven days a week, subject to availability and confirmation.
What time do deliveries take place?
Normal delivery hours are 8am to 5pm. A requested date or time is not booked until confirmed.
Can I request another time?
Yes. Ask when you enquire and wait for the team to confirm it.
Which areas do you cover?
Spalding is at the centre of the working area. Named towns and villages do not guarantee every address, so the full postcode is checked for every request.
Do you deliver to my postcode?
Send the full postcode, product and quantity. The team will check road distance, scheduling and vehicle access before confirming.
Is every address within 15 miles covered?
No fixed-mileage guarantee is published. Road distance, property access and the exact delivery requirement can change what is practical.
Where will the logs be tipped?
At a safe, accessible place agreed before delivery. Prepare the space and keep people, vehicles and obstructions clear.
What access does the delivery vehicle need?
Tell the team about gate width, narrow routes, soft ground, gravel, slopes, overhead obstructions, parked vehicles and turning space. Final limits depend on the actual vehicle.
Can I upload a photograph of the drop location?
The planned request form includes a photo upload. Until it is live, send a clear photograph by WhatsApp or describe the area.
What should a drop-location photograph show?
Show the approach as well as the final tipping point. Include gates, surfaces, overhead space and somewhere for the vehicle to turn or leave where relevant.
What happens if the requested drop point is unsafe?
The team may need to agree a different position or decline the delivery. The final postponement and failed-delivery policy is subject to owner and legal review.
Can I collect logs or kindling?
Bulk wood and bags can be collected by prior arrangement from Unit 8A, Poplar Farm, Weston Hills, Spalding, Lincolnshire, PE12 6BZ. Ask for the complete confirmed address before travelling while the road-name spelling is checked. Ask separately about nets or kindling.
Can I turn up during delivery hours to collect?
No general collection opening hours are published. Contact the team and wait for an agreed time before travelling.
Do you stack the logs?
Do not assume moving or stacking is included. Bulk logs are loose and tipped unless another arrangement is confirmed directly.
How should I store the logs?
Keep them off wet ground in a dry, ventilated store. Protect them from rain while leaving enough airflow for moisture to escape.
Will the moisture level stay the same after delivery?
Storage and weather can change firewood. Any approved moisture statement would describe the product when supplied, not a permanent reading after customer storage.
Can shops, garden centres, farm shops and pubs buy wholesale?
Yes. These and other repeat buyers can send a trade enquiry with products, estimated quantities, frequency and postcode.
Are trade prices published?
No approved public trade price list is available. Send a wholesale enquiry for current pricing.
Can you guarantee stock or a regular delivery day?
No standing stock, lead-time or schedule guarantee is published. Availability and delivery terms are agreed for each enquiry.
How do I order without online checkout?
Use WhatsApp, call, email or send the request form. The team will confirm the product, quantity, price, postcode, access and timing directly.
Does sending the form confirm my order?
No. It sends a request for review. A preferred date is not a booked slot, and the form does not complete a purchase.
Can I pay online?
No. The phase-one website does not take online payments. The team will state the accepted offline methods when confirming the order.
How much are the logs and kindling?
Ask for the current price. No approved public price list is shown, and the total must reflect the product and agreed delivery or collection arrangement.
Can I burn wood in a smoke-control area?
Wood is an unauthorised fuel in a smoke-control area and may be burned only in an exempt appliance. Use only fuel types permitted by the appliance manufacturer and check your address before burning wood.
